This week marks the return of co-host, Resident Young Man, Kelvinpal and we are joined in the show by a Japanese guest, Kimiya Shibazaki and Pathma Raj from the Jom United podcast.
In the first part, we find out from Shibazaki the reaction of the Japanese public to Japan's first-ever qualification to the 1998 World Cup and then four years, what the build-up was like and the attention the Japanese national team got from the public leading to the 2002 World Cup which they hosted.
We then find out from Pathma how old he was and what he was doing during this World Cup and from Shibazaki if he caught any matches in the stadium or attended any public appearances or training sessions.
We then find out who their favourite underdog was in a World Cup of shocks and get Shibazaki to run through Japan's performance in the World Cup. We discuss as well the controversies around South Korea's progress to the semi-final and which of the big teams disappointed them the most. We ask for standout players and discuss the final.
We end as usual with the World Cup 2002 XI.
