Nothing like a couple classic sitcoms to really make you appreciate the origins of the genre. With two shows that really set a precedent, we were impressed and amazed to discover how much they actually set the tone for future shows of a similar style.

The Brady Bunch (1:56) - When a single mother with three daughters meets a single father with three sons, the resulting life is certainly a chaotic one. But with lots of chaos comes a whole lot more love to go around. And although the family has their share of problems, it’s the love they all feel for one another that really brings them together.

I Love Lucy (46:19) - Lucy is always looking for ways to make life more interesting, especially involving her husband Ricky and their friends, Louise and Fred. Whether it’s trying to trick the boys into taking them out to a club or finding themselves in increasingly stressful situations, there’s never a dull moment in their lives.

Science Fiction often stretches itself to capture a wide range of possibility. Truly a genre that can mold itself to please any number of fans. So why would some sci-fi titles perform well while others fail? That’s a question we’re hoping to answer looking at Doctor Who and Firefly.

Doctor Who (02:15) - This show really puts the fiction in science fiction. A Time Machine shaped like a phone booth; A strange man from an unknown place; and teachers that stalk their students. Who wouldn’t want to tune in to that?

Firefly (36:59) - If anything, space should be more like a western. With a vast expanse of lawless lands and criminals, what else would come of it but outlaws and watering holes? Unfortunately, that didn’t quite work out for the creators of Firefly only lasting a single season.

Family time is important. It connects us with the people who know us the best in this world. And when life seems to change all around you, sometimes family is the only thing to really count on. Of course, with the families in Schitt’s Creek and Santa Clarita Diet, there weren’t many other options.

Santa Clarita Diet (5:38) - The last thing to expect in the beautiful suburban town of Santa Clarita is any kind of undead epidemic. But when local real estate agent, Sheila Hammond seemingly pukes herself to death, she ends up craving nothing but human flesh. Now her loving husband, Joel, and her daughter Abby must help her maintain the visage of a normal life whilst trying to hide the truth about her new “condition.”

Schitt’s Creek (54:17) - The Rose family empire has come crashing down. And now they’re only remaining asset - a town called Schitt’s Creek they bought as a joke - is where they must start their new lives. With nothing else to lose, things can only get better from there, right?

The early 2000s were the golden ages of Saturday morning cartoons for some of us. And when we think of early 2000s cartoons, there are certainly a lot of memorable ones. But on this episode, we focused on two that really caught our attention with their “Power Hour” crossovers - The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius & The Fairly Odd Parents.

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius (2:17) - As kids, many people always wondered what it would be like to invent a rocket ship, or fly to school on a jetpack, or even automate our morning routine. Well, the imagination is simply the beginning for kid genius, Jimmy Neutron. As he has both the innovation and the intelligence to think his way out of any situation. Though his inventions likely got him into that situation in the first place.

The Fairly Odd Parents (39:21) - Alright, maybe innovation and science doesn’t do it for you. How about fairies that grant your every wish? That’s where Timmy Turner comes to mind. With the help of his fairy god parents, Cosmo and Wanda, Timmy can wish for just about anything he wants, as long as it’s allowed by ‘Da Rules’. But still, what more could you ask for than being able to wish for a giant chocolate shake, or just the coolest new video game in town. Turns out, random wishing comes with a few consequences, luckily your god parents are always there to wish those consequences away…right?

We’ve all watched TV before - it’s become one of life’s simple pleasures and laziest pastimes. And whether you’re sitting down to watch the newest episode of your favorite show, or tuning into the most recent breaking news, you’ve probably wondered what it’s like behind the scenes. Well they may not be 100% accurate, but 30 Rock and Great News are both here to give you a little comedic glimpse into the lives of the writers and producers of TV.

Great News (02:52) - Behind every great news network, is a great news anchor. And behind every great news anchor, is a great news producer. And then behind that news producer, is her mom who came out of retirement to work as a news intern. Not only does Katie have to deal with an eccentric, egotist news anchor and a somewhat terse and unforgiving boss, now she has to deal with her mom working by her side every day.

30 Rock (30:44) - It’s your favorite day of the week and you’ve gotten all excited to watch your favorite live comedy sketch show - The Girlie Show! But when it comes to live sketch comedy, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than you may think. With a new network exec to impress, and a new unhinged co-star on her show, head writer, Liz Lemon, has a lot on her plate. But she’s not one to back down from a challenge.

We’re back for season 3 of Back to the Pilot! And to kick us off this season, we’re heading downtown with a couple cop comedies.

Brooklyn 99 (3:44) - With a new police captain joining the 99th precinct, Detective Jake Peralta must become something he’s never been before - mature. But he certainly won’t change over night, and the new captain must also learn how to best guide Peralta through this new chapter of both of their lives.

Reno 911! (37:59) - Deep in the heart of Reno, NV there’s a sheriff’s office unlike any other. Where other sheriff’s departments might hold debriefings, the Reno office plan’s parties and talks gossip. But of course the the sheriffs aren’t the only oddity of Reno - the residents don’t always seem to be very normal themselves as these sheriffs seem to find themselves involved with increasingly outrageous shenanigans with every 9-1-1 call they take.

Life isn't always easy for those in the lower middle class. But when push comes to shove, those are the people that find a way to enjoy the little things. And in some of life's most difficult challenges, it's important to understand that anything is possible with the help of our friends and family.

The Middle (1:26) - Nothing gets more 'middle' than a middle-class family living in the middle-west of the United States and getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. The Heck family consists of a mother, her husband, and their three kids all living life to the fullest in Orson, Indiana. It may not be the most glamorous life, but heck if they're gonna let life keep them down.

Malcom in the Middle (29:49) - Okay, I lied. It does get more 'middle'. Like, being the middle of three brothers. It's a brother-eat-brother world in Malcom's house, so every moment counts. And whether it's breakfast or watching TV, you have to fight for every square inch of space. So it's no wonder he just wants to live a normal life at school. Too bad he's a bit too smart for that.

Whether you prefer the comfort of a classic bathroom joke, or you prefer your humor to be a little more subtle, this episode will appeal to you. Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill are two classic adult animations which each drew large audiences during their time on air and even well after they left television.

Beavis and Butt-Head (3:55) - Beavis and Butt-Head are just two kids who are always looking for their next laugh. And whether it's Frog Baseball or donating blood, they always find themselves having a pretty good time. They may not be the most mature, but when they're laughing, nothing else matters.

King of the Hill (25:50) - Living in Arlen, Texas is not all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes it's too hot outside, sometimes you have car troubles, oh and sometimes you get Child Protective Services mistakenly called on you. And although he has a bit of an attitude, Hank Hill will always do what's best for his family and (to an extent) his friends.
