Gerry G. Register begins Romans, which he calls probably the most important book in the Bible and the most misunderstood. Paul longed to reach the church at Rome because conversion ends nothing: "It's the beginning, you see, of your growth, of your sanctification." The gospel is the power of God unto salvation, a matter of the heart and not the profession, and only election breaks the enmity of the carnal mind. The wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness, churchgoers included; the man not living toward holiness has never been born again: "I'm not afraid to say that." Men no longer carve idols; they make a doctrine, a God "that winks at sin." And Paul sets whisperers, backbiters and the disobedient to parents in the same list. Recorded Sunday, 11 May 2025. Lord's Day 43 Q. 112. What is required in the ninth commandment? A. The believer's life is to be marked by an unfeigned love for the brethren. This love is void of hypocrisy, hate, envying, and backbiting. Rather, this love causes the believer to desire the very best for other believers.

The Incarnation was the realization of the forgiveness of sins and the complete overhaul of civilization that had been promised by the Prophets. But that forgiveness was more than a concept. It was to be a reality shown first by God through Christ, and then within the congregation of His people.
