Dr. Jeff Meldrum is a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology at Idaho State University (since 1993). He teaches human anatomy in the graduate health professions programs. His research encompasses questions of vertebrate evolutionary morphology generally, primate locomotor adaptations more particularly, and especially the emergence of modern human bipedalism. His co-edited volume, From Biped to Strider: the Emergence of Modern Human Walking, Running, and Resource Transport, proposes a more recent innovation of modern striding gait than previously assumed. His interest in the footprints attributed to sasquatch, was piqued when he examined a set of 15-inch tracks in Washington, in 1996. Now his lab houses well over 300 footprint casts attributed to this mystery primate.

On this episode we are joined by "Alone" contestant Barry Karcher. As huge fans of the show, we were thrilled when Barry agreed to come on. Barry Karcher is a self-defense instructor, teaching Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Fort Collins, Colorado. A minimalist bushcrafter, Barry has been hunting, fishing, and trapping since he was nine.
Barry was an AWESOME guest to talk to. We sit down and talk to Barry about his experience on Alone. We talk about getting on the show, prepping for survival in the arctic, some creepy things that happened to him, what he would do differently, and all things in between. THANK YOU Barry for talking to us - please check him out, as well as the "Alone" show.

Dan & Bryce are in the studio to debrief on our recent backpacking trip to the smoky mountains. We recently spent two nights in the great smoky mountains, covering 20-some miles of fierce elevation and drastic weather conditions. We all had several gear failures this trip, which lead to some tough decisions. We recap and discuss what went well, what didn't go so well, and what we loved about the great smoky mountains!
