  • Divorce Doesn’t Get the Final Word, Rhiannon Beauchamp
This week Rhiannon Beauchamp joins Jamie Backstage to share her story of growing up Christian with a heart for ministry, falling in love, marrying a pastor and then the heart-wrenching process of rejection inside of the marriage that eventually led to divorce. Rhi vulnerably unpacks her journey and talks about the importance of confronting things in a marriage, what the weapon of rejection can do to ones heart and how to handle the lie, “I married the wrong person.” She talks about forgiveness over bitterness, how she continued pastoring in the midst of life-altering circumstances and how she learned to be “cheerfully expectant”. You will fall in love with her as you listen to her story and our prayer is that every listener can say along with Rhiannon, “I’m not perfect but God has certainly gotten me somewhere”.

  • Women in Marriage & Ministry, Pastor Wendy Perez
Pastor Wendy Perez is coming Backstage this week to talk to Jamie about why she is such an advocate for women in leadership, and women in general! She recounts moments as a young girl being taught things in school about women that didn’t compute for her and how she broke out of the intended psychology that women are just meant for “marriage and mothering”. She talks about things you normally won’t get to hear from her on the a pulpit; college stories, her volunteer work, meeting her husband, how he champions her and the things her parents did to foster the call of God in her. This isn’t a angsty discussion (we actually cut out 6:57 of them laughing because they were out of control lol!) but we do believe it will encourage women that they are meant for a whole lot more than the world might have told them.

  • Imprisoned in Iran, Dan Baumann
Disclaimer: This episode was recorded earlier this summer before recent events unfolded in Afghanistan. If you’re interested in ways to help the Afghan people, we would love to suggest Preemptive Love. Other resources can be found in the highlights of Jamie's personal instagram page, @JamieKlineBates. Dan Baumann is an author and international speaker. He comes Backstage this week to talk to Jamie about heading to Afghanistan as a young missionary full of passion when he eventually found himself imprisoned in Iran under false charges. Their talk transcends the story itself as Dan takes us with him on this deeply personal journey of fear, doubt, hopelessness and suicide attempts. He talks about how God won his heart in a prison cell, how he learned that his mind playing tricks on him was not God being faulty and how eventually God not only saved him from prison but also from himself. You won’t be able to listen to this without being inspired and challenged to deeper levels of trust and friendship with God.

The three of them talk about how their relationship started, how it’s been tested at times and what they attribute to its growth and strength. They recall some hilarious old school memories along the way as well as talk in new detail about when Pastor Steve gave Dustin the church and the trust each one of them had fostered in the other for that transition to work so well. This is definitely a backstage glimpse into one of the most humble, real, hilarious and strongest friendships out there. Enjoy (but not with your children at the 5 minute mark IYK Pastor Steve YK LOL)
