Bad Movie Brunch

"Clean Sheets"

Dir. Jake S. Weisman

Katie and Luke are practicing social distancing, so we're harkening back to December 2019 when you could still gather in public. Luke attends a LIVE screening of Jake's second feature in Chicago and hosts a Q and A with the filmmaker himself! Also, do you dig our new theme? You have @MarkTwaan to thank!

Happy New Year! Katie and Luke decide to take a trip down memory lane and compile the movies they liked best in 2019. Did your favorite flick make our list? Listen and find out on this super-sized episode of BMB!

"Slice" (2018)

Dir. Austin Vesely

Take grab a slice of 'za and take a bite of this spoooooky edition of Bad Movie Brunch. In the lesser loved section of A24's beloved catalogue, pizza delivery boys are getting murdered and there's a tunnel to hell right there in the pizza kitchen! This flick has potential to attain cult status one day. You heard it here first!

"Free Birds" (2013)

Dir. Jimmy Hayward

Happy Thanksgiving! Luke and Katie dig into this strange, strange, strange, strange holiday movie. Wherein a pair of heroic turkeys go back in time to the first Thanksgiving to stop turkeys from becoming the official meal of the holiday. We have thoughts....

"The A-List" (2015)

Dir. Will Bigham

Luke and Katie are joined by returning guest Taylor Shepard to discuss this high school comedy that went under the radar. Perhaps for good reason? We discuss...

PS: Listen to the end for a special treat.

Luke and Katie adventure into the lost city of gold...el dorado...Z...(Which is pronounced "ZED"). Charlie Hunnam is acting his ass off! Robert Pattinson has a big, burly beard! Critics love, audiences and Katie hate it!

Check it out!

"Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School" (1988)

Dir. Charles August Nichols and Ray Patterson

In this episode, Katie walks Luke through a period of Scooby lore known as the "Red Shirt Shaggy Trilogy." When Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy hit the road in their own van that is NOT the Mystery Machine because the Mystery Machine belongs to Fred and Mystery Inc. is NOT involved. This is a side story. Deal with it.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014)

Dir. Marc Webb

In a world where we've seen Tom Holland's Peter Parker take on Vulture, Thanos, Mysterio, etc...it's easy to forget that Andrew Garfield was donning the red/blue tights just a few years ago. Luke and Katie embark on a double feature into Marc Webb's spidey flicks this week on Bad Movie Brunch!

"Scrapers: A Comedy for Romantic Stoners (2016)"

Dir. Jake S. Weisman

This week, in Katie's absence, Luke is joined by Jake S. Weisman to talk about his debut feature film: Scrapers. Instead of gabbing about some studio picture like we normally do, Jake provides a beautiful perspective into the world of fringe filmmaking and what it's like to shoot a movie in the heart of Chicago. Scrapers is a lovely marriage between the rom-com and the stoner comedy genre. In short...You'll laugh. You'll high. (Not my best).

Also, you can watch his flick on Amazon Prime. For free. Go watch it.

"Sing" (2016)

Dir. Garth Jennings

In this week's episode, Katie gets real regarding the problematic Max Landis and the importance of believing women. We also take a look at yet another smash hit from the French geniuses over at Illumination. There are so many animals and so many songs and so many things to unpack in this animated jukebox musical. We also spend an uncanny amount of time talking about Zootopia but that was never our intention.
