Long before Jack Kirby was credited with creating the most beloved comic book characters of all time, he was brawling on the streets of the Lower East Side.  Doing all he could to escape the ghetto, Kirby found his gift as an artist drawing on the tenement walls where he lived.  After a brief stint drawing Popeye, along with Joe Simon, Kirby created the legendary Captain America, an instant hit.  The nazis in the comic book would be replaced by real stormtroopers as Kirby shipped off to Germany to take the fight the fascists.  To learn about his battles, and the creation of your favorite heros, check out Badass Jews episode 3!

Vidal Sasson is famous for his bold architectural techniques but most people don't know he was an OG Antifascist!  In the 1940s when he wasn't cutting hair, he was out on the streets going toe to toe with the British Union of Fascists, often wielding a pair of trimming shares as his weapon of choice.  In 1947 he would leave the security of home to join the Hagannah, volunteering for the Palmach.  Listen to learn more!
