So Israel finally has a king, their first one. What is his name? And have you heard the tribe he's from? Are we sure a human king can do better at being King than Almighty God? These are all the questions facing King Saul. Hear the unique way he found out he was going to be King, and how a man who could barely herd donkeys properly ended up the most powerful man in Israel.

Samuel has been a good judge over Israel, and as he gets older, you think he could ride off into the sunset with some honor and glory coming his way. But sadly, all is not well in Israel, and some of it falls at the feet of Samuel, but a lot of it comes from the people's desire to have a King. But they have a King, don't they? Listen to this week's episode to find out what happens.

Welcome to our latest aftershow. This week I am chatting with my good friend and spiritual mentor, Randy Miller. He is a graduate librarian at the Jerry Falwell Library at Liberty University. We talked about how we met, and also the unique way he ended up as a librarian. These aftershows are me chatting with unique individuals that I feel give some excellent insights on scripture, life, or they just are fun to talk with. This week this episode is free, but it usually is only available to our supporters. Check out how you can become a supporter for only $1 a month over at patreon.com/baldheadbible

National revival, what will it take? Do we want to see our country turn to the God of the Bible, to be a nation that calls Jesus their Lord? Well, the book of First Samuel has just such a story, and it shows us the possible way to see revival. And it begins with something called lamentation.

In this episode, we see Yahweh go to war, and he is fighting Dagon, the god of the Philistines. Who is going to win, and what do tumors have to do with it all? Listen on to find out.

Samuel's mother devoted him to the Lord's service and brought him to the temple where he is to be raised by Eli, the priest. Eli and his sons Hophni and Phineas, are corrupt and allowing the temple of Yahweh to fall into disrepute. What will happen to Samuel? Will he follow suit and be just like Eli and his sons? Listen to find out what happens.

I want to share the first episode in our newest waxing, the dome series on the book of Joshua. I will be interviewing Dr. Jeff Diedrich Assistant Pastor at Abundant Life Baptist Church in Washington, PA, for the next three aftershow episodes. I wanted to share the first one for free this week, but to hear the rest, you need to become a supporter of the Podcast for only $1 a month. Go to our Patreon page to find more details: patreon.com/baldheadbible.

This week we begin a new series on First Samuel, and right off the bat we are introduced to a little known biblical character, but someone you need to get to know better. Her name is Hannah, and the obedience she demonstrates is a model of what it means to walk by faith for believers of all ages.

This episode usually is only available to our podcast supporters. Still, since this podcast was more about Todd and his ministry, I felt it was worth offering free for everyone to hear. Todd and I had been discussing the book of Ruth, and I would encourage you to become a supporter for only $1 a month to listen to those, as Todd gave some great insights. But make sure to listen to this free episode of Waxing the Dome to hear about Todd and his call to minister in the rural heartland of Kansas.

This is the final episode in the series on the book of Ruth. In this episode, we see how God turned Naomi and Ruth's sadness into joy, and how their story is symbolic for what God can do in the lives of those who choose to be loyal to Him.
