On November 21, 1980, one of the worst fires in a hotel in US history, still to this day, occurred on the Las Vegas strip. That morning, a fire spread quickly and with little warning at the MGM Grand, which is now the site of Bally's. This fire would become a tragedy causing the death of many and injury to hundreds. The results of this fire were major changes to hotel codes to ensure safety of guests in the future and this helped changed the law in the state of Nevada pretty quickly.
