2020 is the year of elections, and we've had a long journey of coming to learn anything about politics. As Asian American womxn, we may have not grown up with the familial environment in which politics are a common dinner topic, or maybe we struggled to "fit into" identity-based organizations at school where our peers were so impassioned to advocate for issues we knew little to nothing about. We wanted to share with you all our convoluted path to not only learning more about politics but also becoming more politically aware and active, and we hope that it can be empowering to hear 3 Asian American womxn have an open, candid conversation about what terrified them about politics before, what intrigued them, and what motivates us to raise our voices now.

It’s a special week for our favorite movies: "Parasite" won four Oscars and "To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You" is coming out on Netflix tonight!! We recorded a special episode to start a more nuanced discussion about how people are responding to Parasite’s victory.

You might assume that those who have always loved engaging with Korean media would be most vocal when celebrating Parasite’s victory. However, it’s important to remember that it hasn't always been cool to love Korean music, dance, film, and other aspects of Korean culture.

Da Eun shares her perspective on growing up being shamed by fellow Korean Americans into hiding her love for Korean culture, and now FINALLY seeing Korean media being recognized more formally in America.

You don’t have to be Korean American to relate to her story about growing accustomed to hiding something you love, and now watching others engage with it with such ease. 

Loneliness is one of the most universally dreadful feelings. Although Da Eun and Sophia have been close friends for over seven years, only now do they share intimate details of the bullying they endured and its lasting psychological and even physiological impact. They process their experiences together and discuss the insidious role of social media, gossip, and academic competition on experiences that are painful even 10 years later.
