Tuning Sawmill (gDGCD)

Sharon Graf (fiddle), Mark Mathewson (guitar), Erich Schroeder (banjo). This was from a week before the solo version that I posted.

This old-time TOTW explores one of the many tunes entitled Liza Jane. The Carter Brothers and Son recorded it for Okeh in 1928. Check out this week's TOTW -- I know I'm going to read more about this family. There's a link to a good and long article with the Jimmie Carter's (the "son") family stories. http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/317848.

I'm working with Mark and Sharon on a project, and one of the tunes is Hell Among the Yearlings. It's a great twisty tune, but I can't do some of the syncopation that she does on fiddle.

I'm playing the Tradesman capoed up to D.

A quick run through to test a new banjo I built for my son Russ. This time in G modal. The banjo is a cherry slothead which started life as a Rickard neck blank, 25 1/2" scale, 1/4" brass tone ring on pins, John Balch skin head, etc.

A double C tune written for my youngest granddaughter. This is a quick run through to test a banjo I just finished for my son Russ.
