Banjo Hangout Newest 100 Clawhammer and Old-Time Songs

Clawhammer duet edited and combined with Audacity. Harmony from Kevin Neidig?s Book "Clawhammer duets".

Goofing around on the back porch with my 1970s Wildwood Troubadour.

Chirps Smith is a legendary fiddler in my book. This Tune of the Week is an original by him, brought to my attention from Stephen Rapp, who with his fiddle-playing buddy Paul Kirk, brings us many good tunes. Though the tune is relatively new, it has a sweet old-time feel. I'm playing on a cello banjo to get to the original tuning that Chirps wrote Mississippi Palisades in.

The tune's title meaningfully fits the music. I added some reconciliation at the end. The tuning is so different from what I normally play in the old-time genre -- f#ADAD -- which made playing it even more fun. Look it up on Tune of the Week to learn more and for tab.

Two finger thumb lead. Banjo tuned fDGCD.

Key of A. Played on a vintage 1970's "frankenstein" banjo

Paul Perkins and me playing with guitar player Jon Duvick. I cannot recall what model of banjo Paul is playing, but it used to have a resonator on it and he removed it to play clawhammer with me at barn dances.
