Clawhammer banjo aDADe

Three parts in D and one part in G.

I made up this tune while searching for ideas in the key d minor. (double d tuning) when i myself felt a bit minor. My playing still needs some polishing and I tend to play the tune too fast...

Hope you enjoy ...

I first heard this tune on the Duelling Banjo's played by Eric Weissberg. Very fast bluegrass style. I believe he doesn't play the chorus. I do. It's my 1st recording on BH. Device: Samsung Tab2 tablet.

The Tune of the Week for May 28, 2021 is an obscure tune named for a rattlesnake, which could have been a desert sidewinder, and a Texan pony, recorded by an obscure Arkansawyer clawhammer player named Green Berry Horton, shared on the site for Missouri Friends of theFolk Arts. A nice, simple tune it is and I had fun on Garage Band here in California with harmony on my Ryan Navy Carolina Banjo and a Goldtone cello banjo made in Florida. All done in the USA. :)

From the transcription in Francis O'Neill's Music of Ireland collection of 1903. He wrote that it was well towards the top of the list at the time, found in most American piano publications which included reels and hornpipes. Peter Street is a good dance tune, so they say.

Trad reel in G played CH style.

From the playing of Kentucky fiddler Clyde Davenport, who lived till recently to the ripe old age of 99 and who learned Blackfoot from his father. I want to call him Crooked Clyde. Listen why.

Clyde Davenport's Blackfoot

Dock is my co-pilot.
