Banjo Hangout Newest 100 Clawhammer and Old-Time Songs

2-finger

Passed down through generations, northern Georgia banjo player Chesley Chancey (1913 - 1980) passed the tune Mulberry Gap from his grandfather on to Stephen Wade in 1979 while Art Rosenbaum recorded it at Chesley's home. He played it in the 2-finger style. I play it in the clawhammer style.

This week's tune, 5/29/20, has some confusing nomenclature. The medley here is from Virginia fiddler Luther Strong and WV banjo player Dwight Diller. However, some players call the tune Dwight plays "Hog Eyed Man." He calls it Sally a-Siftin' Sand. Then there's Sally in the Garden, related but different. The tuning here is aDGCD.
