Tunaday #345 - A Peggy Seeger "dulcimer" tuning (gDGDD)

A song i have always loved....

two slip jig from O'Neils's book; the first is called a fig for a kiss and the second hills of Ireland

Off of my banjo CD from 2001. The A part of this tune comes from Papi Galan, a Paraguayan harp player who lives or lived in Switzerland. He aptly called the tune Pequeno pajaro suiza (little Swiss bird); it definitely sounds Swiss. I added the B part in a different key. Banjo(s) muted with two clothespins.

Third long-distance collaboration with my friends Bene and Jeannette (guitars) in Switzerland. A slow-paced well-known instrumental.

A lovely jig by Gordon Duncan. In clawhammer style with some single string work, triplets and arpeggios. E minor flavoured but played in Bm. Enjoy!

Often accompanying by some silly lyrics about Davy and gravy, here is just the instrumental as learned from 1928 recording by the Weems String Band. They only made two, yet many outstanding banjo players have recorded Davy and credited the family band.

key of A. Played on newly crafted Myrtlewood and Walnut open back 5 string banjo

This is an unknown player. I think I found it somewhere on Internet about 14 years ago. I posted it here for the Old Tome TOTW 11/14/2020
