Written in the tradition of old-time nonsense songs. Played by myself on a Bruno 5-string banjo with calf-skin head, circa 1910, and my partner, Suzy Norris, playing an old banjo-uke from the same era, strung with fishing line and tuned in 5ths (we call this "the plink-plink"). I sing the verses, Suzy sings harmony on the chorus.
