Sonny Osbornes Banjo Break

Reno tune I love playing

My arrangement of Blessed Assurance with the cheat-a-keys. Not a terribly difficult one but i bet i've spent 5 or 6 hours behind the mic trying to get it where i want it. This has been the longest drawn out recording i've done. The banjo breaks were giving me fits. Then i quit on it around 3am the other night and saved the guitar trk and lo and behold when i came back tonight levels were all discombobulated. Took an hour to get them sorted back out. Sheesh!

Not sure what made me think of this tune a few weeks ago but i remember daddy had one of those old Smoky Mountain Hymns albums a long time ago on tape, you know with the dulcimers and all, and this one was always my favorite. Puts me right back on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the back seat of an old Grand Marque some 20 years ago. I started fiddling around with the guitar and out it came, then jumped over to the banjo and decided right then i had to get some Cheat-a's to get that whine to it, which my loving wife so kindly gave me for Fathers Day. So here it is hope you all enjoy it!
