Messing around with this English Ballad tonight.

From the fiddling of Bruce Greene who learned it from Uncle George Nicholson (born in Laurel Co., KY in 1854). This tune reminds me of another I've heard before. For some reason the tune gives me a deep sense of deja vu when Bruce plays it. It's on his solo fiddle CD Five Miles of Ellum Wood.

I've uploaded this for the old-time Tune of the Week for July 11, 2014. Ed Britt and I play the three part version of this old standard, though we end on the B part. Ed is playing clawhammer style on his Ome Columbine in double C tuning, capoed on the 2nd fret; I am three finger picking my semi-fretless Tubaphone, in open D tuning.

Dedicated to my mother, now 93 years old. In my mind she's reached the summit, which was the original title of this piece. I'm playing on a Goldtone cello banjo.
