Sunday’s race at Martinsville was great but lost in all of that was the wagering side. What if you had Logano over Byron or Chastain over Byron in a match up? What if you had Wallace over Bell? Byron top 10 could have been in question. NASCAR did what it felt necessary to penalize Bell, Wallace, Chastian and Dillon but what about the average guy or gal putting their hard earned money on a wager?

Can you tell I like that word penultimate? I use it so much some of my friends tend to think I use it too much, but what a great word to describe this race coming up. NASCAR heads to the half mile paperclip in Martinsville Virginia for the Xfinity 500 Sunday and at it conclusion will set the final four for the following week in Phoenix.

NASCAR returns to Miami Homestead for the second race of the third round of the playoffs. Last week Joey Logano threw a hail mary to win in Vegas on fuel mileage. This week, we will not see a fuel mileage race I am almost certain. Tires wear so quickly here and can sometimes be three seconds slower a lap come the end of the run verses the beginning of the run.

Paul and JJ have picked a nice mix of match ups for this week. This is a difficult race to handicap with only two races here with the current car in 2022 and 2023. So the guys look elsewhere to make up their soup for these match ups!

NASCAR gets back on track at their bread and butter style racing at the 1.5 mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway this Sunday. Ahead of this weeks race, JJ and Paul break down the first race of the third round. Some say this is one of the three most important races of the year and I do not disagree. Of course you have the Daytona 500 and the Championship race but this race is third on many lists because if you win and your are in the playoffs your team has two weeks to prep for the championship race!

This week the NASCAR series heads to the Charlotte ROVAL for the second cut off race of the 2024 playoffs. Really you have some guys sweating this one. Positions 4 – 10 are just separated by 37 points and positions 7 – 10 are just separated by 21 points. With guys like Austin Cindric and Chase Briscoe sitting 11th and 12 in points respectively and needing a win, anything is possible this weekend in Charlotte.

Along with a cutoff race this track has a new layout for the drivers. NASCAR has taken out the more technical pieces of the track and created faster straights with a U turn in turn 7 to get back on the oval.

This week the NASCAR series will head to the 2.66 high banked high speed race track in Talladega Alabama. This is the BIGGEST wildcard of this playoffs. Drivers have to chase points a little here after a non playoff driver won Kansas last week!

This week, the NASCAR series begins the round of 12 with a conventional mile and a half race from Kansas Speedway. This is the only race that you can call a conventional race track during this round! After this race its to Talladega and then ending at the ROVAL or should I say the newly configured ROVAL at CMS. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves just yet.

The series will race at Kansas for the second time this year and if you remember in the spring Larson edged out Buescher by the closest margin of victory in NASCARs history! That margin was just .001 crooked start finish line and all.

The NASCAR Series heads to Bristol Tennessee for the 500 lap race under the lights on Saturday night with some BIG implications on the outcome. Twelve drivers will advance to the second round of the NASCAR playoffs after the conclusion of Saturday nights Bass Pro Shops Night Race.

The NASCAR series will head to the Empire State for the annual road race at Watkins Glen International Speedway. Eleven turns and some have been reconfigured to add a little excitement especially in the inner loop with the additions of curbing and a fence.

After a fantastic race where the Cup Series saw another first time winner on the 2024 season last week at Darlington, could this week set up very similar and possibly someone punch their ticket into the round of 12 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
