As the sin cycle continues, God chooses a new man to free Israel from the Midianites. Gideon, the youngest son in his family from the weakest tribe in Israel, is told to "go in the strength that he has." For us today, how do we respond to the evil we see around us? Do we cower and hide or do we trust God to provide?

The Israelites continue their sin cycle. Turn from God and worship other idols, punishment, crying out for help, and God raising up judges to rescue them. Today, we often fall into a similar cycle. We may not have carved idols, but we so easily turn to worship other things. While God provided deliverers to rescue the Israelites, today, we know we have a great Deliverer.

So often, sin doesn't start with one significant failing, but rather a barely noticed chain of compromises. How can we learn from the Israelites so that we don't follow the same pattern today?
