Baptists on SermonAudio

The sermon addresses the sin of jealousy by examining John the Baptist's response to his declining influence as Jesus' ministry grew. It highlights John's contentment in his role as the friend of the bridegroom, finding joy in the souls moving toward Christ rather than clinging to personal acclaim. The central theme emphasizes that all spiritual gifts and crowds belong to God, urging believers to relinquish ownership of their ministries and reputations. This perspective transforms potential envy into profound satisfaction, rooted in the understanding that Christ must always have preeminence. Ultimately, the message calls for a daily posture of humility where self diminishes so that Jesus may increase in every area of life.

Each day, you will hear some of the New Testament, some of the Old Testament, and some of Psalms or Proverbs. You will read through Psalms and Proverbs twice in the year. Today's reading is Isaiah 56-58; 1 Corinthians 7:1-24; and Psalm 56. You can get through the entire Bible in a year listening to it on the way to and from work each day. The elderly with bad eyesight can now see the Bible verses in large print right on the screen.
