Baptists on SermonAudio

We are a Southern Baptist Convention church located in Shreveport, Louisiana, committed to the biblical doctrines and historic principles of the founders of the Convention. Thus, we fully subscribe to The London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 (in particular) and The Baptist Faith and Message (in general).

Because God's Word is our sufficient authority, believers must hold fast to it so that we may mature in the faith and be equipped for every good work.

I. THE PRESENT REALITY – The sons of God II. THE FUTURE CERTAINTY – The similitude of God III. THE PROGRESSING PURITY – The saints of God

God speaks to a people who were outwardly religious, but inwardly far from Him. He speaks the same message to us today. He offers blessing, forgiveness, and life to those who will humble themselves, turn from their sin, and submit to the Lord Jesus Christ. But warns of certain judgment for those who harden their hearts and go their own way. Two paths are shown. We are either willing or rebellious. The LORD urges you to come in repentance and faith, so that you might know the goodness and mercy of God instead of meeting Him as Judge.

The sermon examines the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel through the lens of 2 Kings 17, illustrating how God repeatedly sent prophets as warning signs to call His people to repentance. Despite numerous warnings from figures like Elijah, Amos, and Hosea regarding their idolatry and rebellion, Israel hardened its heart and refused to turn back to God. The preacher emphasizes that God's patience and mercy are intended to lead to repentance, not to condone sin, and warns modern believers against ignoring spiritual convictions. By comparing the nation's gradual descent into corruption with personal choices, the message urges listeners to heed divine warnings before reaching a point of no return. Ultimately, the historical account serves as a sobering reminder that rejecting God's word leads to inevitable judgment and exile.

The greatest gift God has ever given to wicked, sinful people is because of his great love to us. Those people that aren't believers do not understand why believers love to worship God in church services, or read their Bibles at home, or tell others about their great gift of salvation. Believers are not afraid, even of the rod of God, because believers know that God uses the rod to correct us, to draw us closer to him.
