Bar Stool Film School

For our final Halloween offering, we hold a seance with the charming and knowledgeable hosts of Puppet Masters/Castle Freaks to determine if the third instalment of the beloved "Freddy" franchise makes for a good bar movie. That's right, we're talking 1987's A Nightmare Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

Written by Wes Craven, Bruce Wagner, Frank Darabont, and Chuck Russell. Directed by Chuck Russell. Staring Heather Langenkamp, Patricia Arquette, Craig Wasson, and Robert Englund.

We cruise back to Keaun Land for 2014's assassin-centric tale of vengeance. With glasses of fine Welsh whisky in hand, we discuss this (SPOILER ALERT) totally awesome bar movie and why you should never, ever piss off anyone nicknamed, the Boogyman.

Written by Derek Kolstad. Directed by Chad Stahelski (and also probably David Leitch). Starring Keanu Reeves, Willem Dafoe, Ian McShane, and Michael Nyqvst

This week, Dylan and Cameron welcome Rachel from the Castle to discuss her pick for the show, 1968's Barbarella. Much like the film, things get silly and much fun is had by all! Also, Dylan butchers the director's name repeatedly (again). Yay alcohol!

Written by Jean-Claude Forest, Terry Southern, and like 7 other random people. Directed by Roger Vadim. Starring Jane Fonda.

For the big 1-0 we don our swim trunks and dive into 1984's weirdly horney (Academy award nominated?) family comedy, Splash.

Written by Lowell Ganz, Babaloo Mandel, and Bruce Jay Friedman. Directed by Ron Howard. Starring Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, Eugene Levy, and John Candy.

This week, we pair casual drinking with 2022's dark comedy satire, The Menu. Cam dishes on the trials and tribulations of running a bar and restaurant through COVID, and explains why he decided *not* to turn some of his customers into human smores.

Directed by Mark Mylod. Written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy. Starring Anya Taylor Joy, Ralph Fiennes, and Nicholas Hoult

For this installment of the program, we go way back to the year 1990 with the sleepover cult-classic, Tremors! The only thing more deadly than the man-eating ground worms in this flick are the gin based cocktails we whipped up for the discussion.

This week, we consume a dangerous amount of Pym particles in order to shrink our brains down to the appropriate size to talk about 2023's Antman 3. The movie may not have been our cup of computer animated tea, but the conversation, and the drinks, made for a fun time regardless!

Directed by Peyton Reed. Written by Jeff Loveness. Starring Paul Rudd, Ebangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The Mayor of our humble little hamlet joins us for *several* drinks as we discuss 2002's The Scorpion King. Things get loose, but that's ok because the movie is full of hardbodies so it all balances out in the end.

Written by Jonathan Hales. Directed by Charles Russell. Starring Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Kelly Hu.

It doesn't get much better than this folks! Join Cameron and I as we knock back a few chai-tias (chai tea infused mai tais) and nerd out over 2022's international sensation, RRR!

Starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson (RIP). Written and Directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
