Radio was an invention involving many contributors and inventors. The pivotal moment, however, was on December 24, 1906 with the first long-distance public broadcast of a human voice on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1906 from Brant Rock, Mass. The first commercial radio station was KDKA in Pittsburgh, PA transmitting the US Presidential election results between Warren G Harding and James Cox on November 2, 1920. Radio become the center piece for news and entertainment soon after that. Radio shows became the theater of the mind. As television entered the market in the late 50s, radio evolved. Today radio has decentralized from stations to podcasts and content on demand. It is a medium that allows us to dream and create the stories in our imagination without being told what to see or dream. It is the power of the spoken word.

BardsFM started live shows on 10 November 2020. Over the past 5 years, those lives grew to a peak of six shows per day, and have settled into a twice a day programming format... one in the morning and one at night. Live shows were a critical part of the BardsFM community during Covid, providing a place for people to assemble, share stories and pray. As we head into 2026, the stories are growing and maturing. To meet the new challenges the evening live shows will now be retired. Lives will be Sunday through Friday, and a second show will be posted as a standard podcast Monday through Friday at 3pm PT each day. Tonight's show is a tribute to the five year journey that has brought us here, the resilient BardsFM community, a reflection on accomplishments and challenges and the growth in our common love in Christ. For all of those that have been part of this journey and will continue to be part it, to all of those that are new and moving with us... thank you. Happy Thanksgiving.

The histories we are most familiar with place the origins of Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims and their 1621 harvest feast with the Wampanoag people. However, the root of the November celebration of Thanksgiving is more accurately attributed to George Washington and his Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789. The heart of the message and of the holiday was not about food, but about humbling ourselves and giving thanks to God.
"Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation."
