Barely Living Dread Girls Podcast

Soooooo sorry for the delay on this episode! insert various excuses for it here that no one actually cares about. And don't talk about how its not pride month anymore, its ALWAYS PRIDE.

Stay Spooky <3

HAPPY PRIDE QUEENS!!! We're doing a whole month of queer horror because horror. is. queer. LGBTQ+ people have been apart of cinema and art in general since the beginning of time and for a few weeks, we're going to celebrate the whole community highlighting some of our favs! Love is love and we are all human <3

This week we're covering what is looking like will be our favorite movie of 2026. Ralph Fiennes melancholic performance in this film is like a warm hug and in between those scenes, you're treated to Jack O'Connell chewing scenery and some pretty awesome gore.

Stay Spooky! <3

The best way this movie can be described was said best by Jes on this episode and is now the new title of this movie in our hearts; "Freddy the 13th: A Nightmare on Crystal Lake"

This week we covered a modern, gross take on the classic tale of Cinderella. the Ugly Stepsister from 2025 is disgusting and beautiful and weird and we had a great time talking about it. Its free to stream on Hulu and Shudder currently so ignore our warnings and go watch it!

Stay Spooky!

Whew. Its been a while. We've missed you all. We're sorry to keep you waiting so long but we're back and so happy about it.

This week we're talking Weapons from 2025, one of our favs from the last year. Buckle up though, a lot of amazing horror movies have come out in the last couple years so we've got a lot to cover!

Stay Spooky!

Coming at you with several weeks of Kathryn Newton movies, starting with Lisa Frankenstein! We both loved this movie and we hope you do too!

Monster Movie March Madness continues this week with 2020’s Kristen Stewart driven Underwater. This movie is honestly (and a little unexpectedly?) terrifying! With or without thalassophobia, so many of this scenes are absolutely chilling. PLUS secret C*****u movie! (yes I censored that in case you haven’t seen this movie, go watch it!) Just when you think you have a handle on this movie, shit changes just in time for a huge ending that we both loved. How hot is K Stew in this movie? Does anyone else find TJ Miller as funny as I do? And who saw that ending coming honestly?

PS. Next week was going to be Godzilla Minus One but its not streaming like I thought it would be (wtf man?) so we’re replacing it with The Host (2006) and will cover Godzilla when it eventually comes out!

Monster Movie March Madness is hereeeeee! And we’re starting off with an absolute banger from 2005, The Descent. A powerful movie about womanhood (Happy  International Women’s day) and friendship and loyalty and… there was something else I swear… Oh yeah! Cave creatures!! Even without the creepy crawlers, this would be a tense and terrifying movie that leaves you holding your breath. But this is a month to celebrate awesome monsters and we can’t overstate how iconic they are.

Did anyone see the sequel? Did you hate it? Love it? Didn’t seem like it needed a sequel. Especially with the original ending. But let us know in the comments!

What the fuck… is this movie?

Okay y’all, full disclosure, this was not supposed to be a bonus episode but we had no idea how to talk about this time-fucky movie so it only ended up being a half hour. Whoops. Casey’s bad! We (Casey at least) had a lot of fun watching Triangle from 2009 and we definitely suggest watching the movie before listening to this episode. We barely make sense even if you know what’s happening in this movie. A movie like this just doesn’t have the best structure for a recap/review discussion like we usually do. (Again, Casey’s bad.)

“This movie rules though.” -Casey

Stay spooky!
