Episode 64: “Buddy Holly”
Sixty years ago, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, and Richie Valens all died in a plane crash because Buddy wanted to get to the next concert quicker so that he would have time to do his laundry before the show. True story. It was the day the music died. And this week, is another week that the music died as we discuss the Barenaked Ladies cover of “Buddy Holly” by Weezer. Recorded in 1991 during their Yellow Tape sessions, this rarity should have stayed hidden, but you decide.

Does that mean I can say whatever I want here because it is written, so it isn’t out loud? Well, this week we say a lot of things out loud. We talk about Grinning Streak quite a bit. No editing this week because whatever we said out loud will remain said. And make sure you stick around for the music at the end for a new segment.

Episode 62: Melanie Doane Interview
We are joyous to push off another song for a week so that we can talk with Melanie Doane, with whom the Ladies worked recently to raise money for the USchool charity. They recorded a song “Joy To The World” with the USchool students. This is an amazing charity and Melanie is an intelligent and engaging guest, as well as a brilliant singer/songwriter/teacher on her own. Please join us this week as we talk with the wonderful Melanie Doane!

This week we have the great Greg from “This Might Be A Podcast” where they discuss “They Might Be Giants” songs. That group Aaron brings up every other week. And this week we will be talking about the song “Daydreamin’”. No… not the Radiohead song, although I’m sure Aaron would love to do that. And not the Aretha song. And not the one by Simple English… What podcast do you think you’re listening to?

It will be “One Week” before you get to hear another episode where we discuss a song by Barenaked Ladies because this week, Aaron and I had the distinct pleasure of talking with Susan Rogers, who among her many accolades can say that she co-produced “Stunt” for Barenaked Ladies 20 years ago. We were so enthused to have this opportunity, so please forgive us as we stood aside most of the time and just let this stunningly intelligent person astound us.
The book that she references in the interview is:
The Berklee interview can be found on the bottom of this page and is highly recommended:
And some other interesting interviews by Dr. Rogers:
If you consider yourself musically intelligent and want a great read, please read her doctoral dissertation:

And the non-profit recording project she helped to begin can be found here:
Thanks again to Dr. Rogers for taking her time to talk with us. She was an amazing guest and I wish that we had more time with her. If you are a Berklee student, make sure to take one of her classes.
Do you want to know what this week’s song is? Do I have your interest peaked? It’s not “Mystery”. It starts with “C” as we end with our “C”s. It’s Curious. And this week you will be curious as to where Aaron went, but he is just sick. But unlike the cat, curiosity didn’t kill him. Which is luck for us, because he doesn’t have 8 extra lives.

Episode 55: Crazy
This week’s song is going to drive me crazy. Is it two songs? Is it three? Is it one? Are there really voices in the background, or are they all just in my head? What are they saying? Please listen this week and let us know on Facebook or www.bowlingstormtrooperentertainment.com to give us what you know.By the way, after note, the versions on Variety Recordings and Barenaked Recess do not have the “jam session” or “Dat Fodder”. You should listen… very different.
