"The Baruch community welcomes the freshman class of 2013 at the Convocation ceremony.


The event is introduced by James McCarthy, Provost and vice President for Academic Affairs. Baruch College Interim President Stan Altman forges a bond with the students by presenting himself as “the freshman President of Baruch College.” He offers his own life and career as a case in point of what can be achieved when one is open to unexpected opportunity. Tanvir Hossein, President of Undergraduate Student Government, gives an inspirational speech.


John Elvis Smelcer, the award-winning author of over 40 books, provides the convocation address.


Ben Corpus, Vice President for Student Development and Enrollment Management and Dean of Students formally inducts the students into matriculated status.


Teresa Parker, Director of Baruch College Chorus, instructs the students how to sing Baruch's Alma Mater.


The event takes place on August 27, 2009, at Mason Hall, 17 Lexington Avenue."
