  • Episode 25: Baseball and "The Office" Fantasy Draft

Episode 25 of Baseball and Whatever is here! This week Greg names his playoff pitching roster for the White Sox, Justin explains his deep hatred for the Dodgers, and Vinnie describes the stupidity of the Brewers pitcher that punched a wall…right before the playoffs.

For our second half we have our first ever “fantasy draft.” This time we are building our own office based on characters from the tv show, The Office. Each of our “offices” must have the 1 corporate job, 1 office manager, 2 sales people, 1 receptionist, 2 “flex” jobs, 1 accountant, and 1 warehouse person. Head on over to Twitter @BaseballAndWhat and vote for which of us had the best draft! During all this we recount our favorite scenes, episodes, and memorable quotes from the series.

      • Episode 24: Baseball and Movies That Left An Impression

The return of “That Guy” trivia also makes a return. Do you know the answer? Write in and tell us.

            Greg’s “That Guy” Baseball Trivia

            • Was a mini-stud 3B/cleanup man with the D-Backs. .280/.339/.453/.792 over 6 seasons. A couple 20+ HR seasons mixed in there. Kind of went downhill towards the end of his D-Backs tenure.
            • He made the Cubs opening day roster after signing a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
            • If you take his jersey number he wore with the D-Backs and divide it by 2. That is the number he wore for the Cubs.
            • Slashed .250/.327.295 with 0 HRs with the Cubs
            • He was DFAd, cleared waivers, and sent down to Iowa to make room for Starlin Castro.
            • The Yankees picked his ass up in July but it didn't last long. He finished the season with the Marlins. And if you take his jersey number he wore with the D-Backs and divide it by 6. That is the number for the Marlins.
            • **For extra credit, tell me the Marlins player that wore that number previously before he was dealt to the Rangers a week earlier.
            • He’s currently coaching a 14U Travel girls softball team in NC, and I believe one of his daughters plays on the team as well.

Episode 21 of the podcast is now up. It’s old enough to drink! Anyway, the guys are back with another episode of Baseball and Whatever. This week they discuss whether or not Dallas Keuchal should be on the White Sox playoff roster, Patrick Wisdom’s historic rookie season for the Cubs, and lastly they break down the disaster that has been the New York Mets over the past 2 weeks. Mets fans, what is going on with your organization!?

For our “whatever” segment, Justin draws 5 random Seinfeld episodes from a hat and they try to rank them in order leading up to their favorite. Plenty of quotes, impressions and more with this segment. It left us laughing a ton thinking about Frank Costanza.

Holy cow we’ve made it to episode 20! We have a super-loaded show for you this week. We start off with our regular baseball talk by breaking down the “discussion” that Seby Zavala had with Tony La Russa after a recent mishap. Was he right to discipline a player in the dugout or should it have been done away from cameras? The guys also discuss the Cubs current progress, and also announce their unofficial official minor league baseball team, the Carolina Disco Turkeys! Our second segment has us breaking down our top 5 Disney animated movies with Jeff from the Disney on the Rocks podcast. It was a blast to rediscover a bunch of great Disney movies from the past. We even try to stump ourselves by eliminating Pixar movies to make it tough! Check it out for deep dives on everything from Princess and the Frog, Wreck it Ralph, and Aladdin!
