The Rays are off today, April 23rd. It’s the 5th time this season Tampa Bay has been off since the season opener and the third time it’s been on a Thursday. The Rays have had one Friday off-day (the first on March 27th) and one Monday off-day (April 13th). Last year, between games one and 162, the Rays had 23 days off, which included days off during the All-star break.
Tampa Bay remains at Tropicana Field for three more games and then heads on the road for three before the next off-day of the season in exactly one week’s time (April 30th, OFF DAY #6). All six games between days off are against the American League Central division, three with the Twins and then three with the Guardians. The Rays went 2-1 earlier this season in Minnesota and will wrap up the season series with them on the weekend. It will be the first three games of a season series with Cleveland, the last three coming in late July, the 24th through the 26th in St. Petersburg.
