May 07, 2019A Righteousness by Faith"What is the practical ramification of the resurrection? Why is this so important. Paul describes it this way: "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ ..." Philippians 3:8-11 If you want to have eternal life the only way to do that is to know God. And because Jesus dealt with death once for all, we can do that. * In Exodus 20 verse 7 it says "thou shalt not take your lord's name in vain". So, if you say "oh my God" is that taking his name in vain? * Could you please explain Acts 19:1-7? It seems to indicate that receiving the Holy Spirit is a separate event from believing, and requires the laying on of hands. * Who are the seraphim and how many are there? Has evidence of them been found? * Ray asks for clarification on using the Lord's name repetitively. * Mary Jo is struggling with "giving thanks in all things"....more25minPlay
May 06, 2019A Life of Faith in Jesus"Last month we celebrated Easter - the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. How does the resurrection impact how we live as believers in Christ? The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now in us. Paul wrote about this throughout his letters. In Galatians 2:19-21 "For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. ..." * Can you please explain Matthew 5:19? * My church has a requirement of baptism to receive communion. Is that true? * What are your thoughts on Romans 6:1-7...more25minPlay

May 01, 2019Christ in You"Colossians 1:27 "To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Because of what Jesus Christ accomplished he has now come to live inside you. His presence guarantees you are in his favor. If God is for you, who can be against you? * How do I open my hear to receive anything from the Lord? * What happens to those who die without receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior? Is there another chance for them to accept his work?...more25minPlay
April 30, 2019In Him, You Have Rest"In Exodus 33, Moses gets a disturbing message from God. It is time to travel to the Promised Land, but God says he will not go before them because the people's hearts were hard. Moses advocates for his people and asks God to distinguish his people from all the rest by going with them to the Promised Land. God then promises that he will go with his people and give them rest. As believers, we have the same promise. Jesus lives in us and his presence means we are at rest. Once we know we are in the presence of God we can rest. Do you know that as a believer in Christ you can never be outside the favor of God? The Holy Spirit is the guarantee of that truth. * Is God defining himself in 1 Corinthians 13 where Paul wrote about love? * My adult children no longer listen to me. What do you do with that?...more25minPlay

April 26, 2019Ephesians - 6:21-23: Grace to All"This session concludes our teaching on Ephesians. As Paul met with the Ephesian elders he said "I am here to testify to the gospel of God's grace". Ephesians is a book all about the grace of God. It ends with grace as well. It is God's grace that equips us to live abundant, productive lives. We have been placed into the body called the "church". In this body, we belong to one another - one in Christ. This grace empowers us to love Jesus Christ with an incorruptible love. It is not corrupted by the world, nor does it deteriorate. It is living and growing and animated by God's love for us....more25minPlay
April 25, 2019Victory in Jesus Christ"One of the things that Paul addresses in his letters is the resurrection of the body. And a question that people ask is if we'll recognize people in Heaven. Let's look at 1 Corinthians 15:35 to answer that question. "But someone will ask, 'How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?'" and in vs. 42-44 "So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body." * What does it mean that "no one seeks God"? * Is that what Jesus meant when he said "you must be born again OF THE SPIRIT" .... does that mean it's only a spiritual body? 1 Corinthians 15:53 * What domes first regeneration or faith? * Will my Mormon friend be in Heaven with me?...more25minPlay
