Basso Profundo

Welcome, foolish mortals..... to another episode! Today we are tackling the sound of fear; what is it, what does it sound like, and what does it do to our emotions? Be prepared to be SPOOOOKED!

The fog rolls in, the moon is full, and the freaks are about to take over! In this special Halloween edition of Basso Profundo, we’re conjuring up a Creature Double-Feature that'll send shivers down your spine. First, we dive into DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's "A Nightmare on My Street", where Freddy Krueger lurks in the beats. Then, we venture into the haunted night with Whodini’s "Freaks Come Out at Night", a track guaranteed to get the ghouls grooving.

With spooks in our blood, we live for this time of year. So join us as we chat about our latest ghostly escapades at Six Flags Fright Fest, revel in the spine-tingling magic of clean 80s rap, and kick off spooky season the only way we know how—by celebrating the freaks who roam after dark.

Happy haunting, folks!

This week, Sam and Jonathan throw on their old studded belts and skate shoes to hang out and talk all things Let Go, Avril Lavigne’s pop-punk masterpiece. Expect some off-key sing-alongs (mostly from Jonathan, let’s be real), and, of course, secret crushes we never told anyone about (until now). We’ll gush over Avril’s raw, punchy vocals, debate whether "Sk8er Boi" is a power chord-filled love saga, and figure out how Avril became the original Punk Princess.

It’s all about being true to yourself and rocking out—even if your vocals don’t quiiiiiiite hit those high notes. It’s complicated, but in the best possible way.

Can you believe it..... IT'S THE FIFTIETH EPISODE!! WE MADE IT KIDS! Join us today with our very special guest, artist and designer (and friend) Stephen Linehan. Stephen brings Sam and Jonathan on a wild ride of industrial design and how it relates to music, designing eras for musicians, and working with Sam on her branding. It's the most spectacular fiftieth episode you'll ever listen to.

Lets turn back our clocks to the early 2000s where checkered belts and choppy peacock layers ruled the lands. Some of the most influential (and emotional) bands came out of these times and it's up to Sam and Jonathan to break it down. Why are they Popular? And how did these Tumblr kids connect?

Jinkies Gang! We've got quite the mystery on our hands this time because its a...solo episode? A new show popping up in the headlights of this groovy van was NOT on our 2024 bingo card but here we are! This week the gang splits up to gather clues about which of the very MANY Scooby Doo intros are best and we're taking a magnifying glass to what Jonathan has to say about all this.

B-A-S-S-O-S-O's, YOU ARE OUR PROFUNDO'S! See what I did there... hehe. Today we're all about being Hot To Go and the hit by Chappell Roan. Bring your pom poms!

Welcome to the 90's, kiddos! We're going back in time to our Barbie World to visit the debut album Aquarium by Aqua! Sam and Jonathan explore the upbeat bubblegum vibes that this album exhibit. It sure is a fun one!

Plus, discover classical composers, Broadway legends, and mainstream marvels who’ve shaped the musical landscape. Get ready for an episode that hits all the high notes of pride, power, and passion!

Hop in the Jeep because we're going on a safari to traverse the largest savanna in the world... but not actually! It'll play forever in our hearts and somehow also the Namib desert? Find out all about it now with Sam and Jonathan this week!
