Discord recently asked me to verify my identity in order to verify my Discord bot, Emojia, a bot that helps Discord servers bypass the 50 custom emoji limit. I refuse.
Even though the ID verification is done via Stripe, Discord can still access the verification data. With Discord's track record at leaking data and spying on you, I do not trust it with my ID (tbh, I don't trust any platform with my ID, for that matter.)
Anyway, because of this, Emojia has lost the ability to read messages (different from slash commands,) which means it cannot detect recent emoji usage. You can bypass this by running your own instance of Emojia as a private Discord bot. Please check the README.md in the repository (source code) for instructions.
