Time for Y.A.B.O. — Yet Another Box Opening. Three packages arrived at once this time: two are tobacco, sent over by fellow pipe smokers here in Denmark, and the third is a shipment of pipes I'm saving for its own video so it doesn't get lost in the indexing system.

The first package comes from Thomas Ebdrup (go check out his channel, linked in the comments) and is packed with vacuum-sealed tins and pouches I've never tried before — a Stanislaw Wintertime Flake, an Aylesbury Classic Flake, a Vauen tin from 2023, a Robert McConnell St. James Park, and a Caledonian Highland No. 10 from 2020. The second package comes from a fellow Danish pipe smoker named Henning, and it's almost entirely My Own Blend (MOB) — the Danish house brand made by Scandinavian Tobacco Group — across several old tins and editions, including a couple of blends I can't fully identify yet.

I go through both boxes tin by tin, trying to work out what's aromatic, what's got Latakia in it, and what on earth some of these older, sparsely labeled tins actually are. The third box — the pipes — gets saved for the next video.

This is a special episode of Pipe Rundown. Instead of working through a batch of estate pipes, I'm cataloguing the pipes I actually reach for every day — my four daily smokers — plus one extra French briar brought in to round out the video.

The line-up runs from an affordable Cosmos Jupiter and a Danish-branded White Star Carlo to the heavily filled Acire "Spotted Beauty", a beaten-up no-name inherited from a friend who has since passed, and a chunky no-name French pipe stamped "Vieille Bruyère / Sport Deluxe" with a horn stem and a stubborn loose tenon. Along the way I talk through my cataloguing and ID system, shape preferences, restoration headaches, why I smoke simple working pipes over my nicer showpieces, and how hard it is to get pipe tobacco here in Denmark.
