Hello, Hefka Le Nekopunk here ! But for the OST Comp Jam 8, I am dropping the nekomimi and the Punk attitude. My first intention was to make something into my usual highly-aggressive style, but it would have turned completely uncoherent with both the themes of the game jam, cause I chose both themes. The theme is « One summer night » and the picture looks pretty something related to Lo-Fi. That means I tried to make calm chiptune for once!
So, exit the blast-beats (excepted on "KesΓ€sota", which is a battle theme), Iβm lowering the BPM and trying to make something calm. Actually, this project is kinda relatable to what is happening in real life. Iβm getting sick of the surrounding negativity everywhere and I was wondering if video games could be used as a therapy against anxiety. Summer night have to be calm and peaceful, and the fact we are talking about « ONEΒ Β» summer night makes me think this night has to be special. I wanted this night to be a processus of self-heal.
Of course, no one said we can heal from whatever makes you sick so easily, so itβs not all about Lo-Fi. A 3/4 waltz on « En attendant lβauroreΒ Β», an aggressive reggae beat on « Interlude 1Β Β», an exotic scale here, a chromatic one thereβ¦ Sometimes the tempo is rising so you can breathe peacefully when it slow down. Like the sea, itβs not a flat line. Tomorrow the tempest will be a long-gone remembrance.
