  • Demo of FreeCAD-macro SelectionSet and SelectionSetLink to select faces for FEM

This video shows how to create a SelectionSet and use it via a SelectionSetLink to select faces for a FEM-boundary condition.

The aim was to create a volume-based selection of faces or solids in FreeCAD. SelectionSet: define a β€œselection shape” (e.g. a box, sphere, or PartDesign body), then store which faces or solids of another object lie inside or intersect it as a SelectionSet in the model tree. SelectionSetLink: combine one or more SelectionSets (and/or direct shapes), add and subtract as needed, then apply the result to a FEM constraint, material, or any object with a References propertyβ€”so you drive FEM geometry from your selections in one place.

  • Protecting You From Yourself - The Token2 Review

Part 5 of the Sovereign Authentication series.

    Watch the series here

We have looked at the industry standard (YubiKey) and the philosophical idealist (Nitrokey). Today, we’re looking at the aggressor: Token2.

The PIN+ Dual Release 3.3 and the Bio3 come in at nearly half the price of the competition, but there is a catch. This Swiss company doesn't care about convenience; they care about correctness. From hardware-enforced complex PINs to a literal war on legacy TOTP codes, Token2 assumes your ego is your biggest vulnerability.

Is this cynical, locked-down approach exactly what we need for true digital sovereignty, or is the clunky user experience a dealbreaker? Let's find out if this is the ultimate punk rock choice for your threat model.

      • DNS: A Love Affair with Lovecraftian Horrors

The DNS is a hoary protocol, with ancient secrets that man was not meant to know.

It is said that learning too much about the dark corners of this ancient knowledge might drive one mad.

Here is your chance to learn mostly useless things about DNS!

This presentation will cover quirks of the DNS protocol which are probably surprising, and hopefully interesting.

Warning: Due to constraints no entities from beyond time and space will be summoned during this talk.

      • What translating Thunderbird taught me

I contribute to Mozilla Project since 2005. I spent the majority of that time translating, localizing and QA-ing that effort.

In the last years I am focusing on Thunderbird both Desktop and Mobile.

I'd love to share some things I learned for that time which will help you to grow as a translator and as a community member: - Is consistency important. Tips and trick I use to keep myself motivated - How do you test a translation with the consumers - Why localizing the mobile version is a bigger challenge that the desktop
