Dia 17 de agosto de 2026 a polícia militar e fazendeiros deram início a mais uma série de ataques a indígenas Guarani-Kaiowá, desta vez na retomada Aratikuty, em Dourados, nos territórios ocupados pelo Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul.
No dia 19, a polícia militar realizou um despejo sem ordem judicial. Atacando indígenas com gás lacrimogênio, balas de borracha e munição letal. E prendendo cinco pessoas.
Os ataques já deixaram mais de 10 pessoas feridas, incluindo três crianças. Também incendiaram moradias, destruiram alimentos e estruturas comunitárias. Há inclusive relatos de tortura. Uma escavadeira foi usada para cavar uma vala, para impedir a passagem de indígenas.
Os latifundiários por trás dos ataques têm histórico de agressão contra indígenas. São do mesmo grupo que criou o chamado "caveirão rural". Têm conexões com grandes escritórios de advocacia, cooperativas do agronegócio, o sindicato rural e empresas de segurança privada que atuam em conjunto com pistoleiros.
Políticos de extrema-direita, como Marcos Pollon e Rodolfo Nogueira, do PL de Bolsonaro, foram ao local para intimidar e criminalizar a retomada. Ambos têm ligação com a milícia Invasão Zero, que atua contra as retomadas em diversas partes do país.
Apesar da violência de que são alvo há séculos e em resposta à paralisação das demarcações pelo governo federal, Guarani-Kaiowá intensificaram as retomadas na região.
