Ready or Not | 149 | TRICK & TREAT - Addicted to RnB OCT-NOV 2026 (Hot New R&B in the Mix)
Website (All you need in one place):
This is an electrical circuit I made that whenever I press a button, it plays a random Flowery Jarona voice clip from Deltarune Chapter 5.
The setup is created with an ESP32 S3 Super Mini microcontroller, a MAX98357A DAC amplifier and a button. The microcontroller is programmed with Arduino IDE. I've created a template of it if you want to set up one for yourself: https://codeberg.org/NorthWestWind/arduino-sound-randomizer
How did this even become my new hobby? It all started with the button, which as you can see, is a Rhythm Heaven Groove pre-order bonus. It is originally just a keycap keychain, but upon opening up the inside I found out the button is actually functional (in the sense that the circuit does close when the key is pressed). So I had the idea to hook it up to something that actually play sounds. Throughout the past month, I have been researching how to do this kind of stuff, and this is where I've landed so far. The on thing that's still missing is a portable battery that can power the microcontroller.

BORING STORIES AND STUFF:
Hey, happy Halloween everyone!
To celebrate, here's something that goes beyond "just spooky/scary music", since it's based on a real story, but not the way "stuff based on real stories" would usually be made. This song was actually made BEFORE the story happened, without any knowledge or expectations of what happened. Then the video was done AFTER the story.
Let me explain it simpler:
At this point the few folks who keeps watching my stuff regularly, if anyone, knows about the accident I had 2 months ago, which broke my arm and kept me unable to do even the most basic things for awhile. That happened somewhere in the depths of the swamps during one of my routes. A place I was already familiar with since I visited it a few times before and never had any problem there.
That day, however... if I talked all details about the place, the context and all what happened, seen and perceived there... that'd be more than enough material for a horror movie script, lol. Everything was so different... and so creepier... And the situation after that, especially in the first 2 weeks, was so frustrating...
I initially made this tune inspired by that place when it was still a nice, peaceful place to visit. In fact I made it the first day I discovered that place, even though it was first done as a shorter track for 2HTS, a weekly music event hosted in ThaSauce, a nice community of musicians I was pleased to participate every time I could.
Ironies of life, despite how peaceful the place is, the track was unusually dark and unsettling. The structure happens to be surprisingly accurate with the experience in the accident day as well: starting with the "foreshadow future memories" in a quick way, then going kinda chill, almost close to shoegaze or ambient rock stuff, then going stronger to eventually collapse in an unusually dark, spooky interlude.
That interlude may represent the fall moment. After a moment I managed to rise up and keep moving to escape out of that place, and so does the music.
The outro may sound like someone died, but fortunately no one did! It was some really difficult weeks but here we are, doing stuff and having fun again. Isn't wonderful?
Seriously, it feels so great to be alive and (almost) fully functional again! And so now converting this experience and thoughts into music, video and art and whatever.
Maybe it'll look and sound like random, uncohessive nonsense for most people, but that's what it was for me as author. Due to art's own versalitily and freedom of interpretation maybe it'll look, sound and feel like something totally different, I dunno. And in any case it's all welcome. Remember to comment your thoughts if that's the case, btw!
Also worth adding I initially made this video as part of a stream show about music and halloween. Specifically for Void Moon, an event in MTHBORD, a community I also "accidentally" joined throughout a link in the website band.codes where I uploaded some of my Bandcamp albums to. A nice place so far, even though it still looks too big to get used to as a newcomer haha.
Anyways... I hope you have (or had if you are seeing this later) a nice, spooky and pleasant day. π
