On this episode, Martha is joined by World War II Marine Veteran Bill Swanson, and his son Jim Swanson, to share his story of serving in the Pacific during the war. His experiences were later published in his book The View from My Foxhole A Marine Private's Firsthand World War II Combat Experience from Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima.

Jim also discusses his father's experience at the Battle of Iwo Jima, and how he wrote the book to honor the memory of the heroes lost during his time in the war.
