As we launch The Salvation Army's Self-Denial Missionary Appeal for 2021, we consider what self-denial means. It can be heart surgery for us, ensuring that God is enthroned in our hearts rather than anything else. It's a spiritual discipline that can help us discover the best things for us, by giving up the good things.

How do we know God is love? We look at the cross. It's scandalous to believe that God would choose to show his love through an instrument of torture. But Jesus' sacrifice is the best picture we have of God's love for us.

God loves you. A simple statement. But God's love is beyond our human understanding. It is overwhelming, never-ending and reckless. It is Scandalous Love! This sermon introduces us to our new series, reminding us that God is love - his nature, his essence is love. And he loves you!

How do you deal with doubt as a Christian? Is it OK to doubt God sometimes? In this sermon, we discover that doubt is an essential part of faith. When we give our doubts over to God it can help to deepen our faith.

The heart of Christmas is this: God loves you. The best thing you can do on Christmas Day (or any other day of the year) is to let him love you. Is it Christmas in your heart? Accept God's love today.

Christmas in 2020 isn't cancelled, because the promise of Christmas remains: God loves you. Will you accept his love this Christmas?

Where do you find direction for your life? Your own thoughts? Whatever everyone else is doing? Your own feelings? This morning we discover the Magi, who followed God's direction as he led them to Jesus Christ. We discover this is in contrast to the religious scholars and leaders of the day, he failed to follow God's guidance.

Life can seem pretty terrifying at the moment. But worship can help us see a different perspective on life. The shepherds were terrified when the angels visited them on the Bethlehem hillside, but soon the angels worship turned their fear to joy, faith and hope.
