We live in a post-truth, post-logic culture and historians tell us that no culture that has rejected concepts of truth and rational thought has survived. A society that rejects the existence of God has no basis for truth, meaning or morality and a culture that lacks that structure can expect chaos to emerge. Friedrich Nietzsche predicted that, as Western Culture denied truth, meaning and morality in the 19th century, the 20th century would be the bloodiest century in history. With multiple world wars, the Holocaust and genocide carried out by Marxist/Socialist governments, more people were killed in the 20th century than all others combined. We now see the resurgence of Socialism in the US, the very same ideology that murdered over 100 million people, and the post-truth society rallies for prominence and control. What does the future hold? It's critical to note that much of the bloodshed of the 20th century happened while the world still held onto objective concepts of truth, meaning and rational thought. If the 20th century was so undeniably destructive before the total rejection of truth, morality and meaning came to pass, what will the 21st century bring now that they have been completely rejected? Will it be bloodier that the 20th? Ideas have consequences and it's why Battleground Ideas exists, to engage in the struggle of the war of ideas.
