[Re-uploaded after falling foul of the disco police]
Oh no, Katie's totally gone with the end of this. She's still crying now, days after recording. Just wait till War of the Gods. We'd better top up the tissues for that one. This one has so much, we get "sealings" i.e. weddings, Egypt, Baltar double treble quadruple crossing, and of course, one of the most heartbreaking scenes in Sci-fi. Poor Boxey, poor Muffit.
We end the pod with a few minutes on the space disco singers from Carillon - who they were, where they come from and the background of the song. To prepare for this, we had to spend an hour watching space disco. Music will never been the same again.
What happens when someone who's never seen classic 70s sci-fi watches it with their other half who's a total geek for it? Will they love it, hate it, or ask for a divorce on the spot? The Mackem (Katie) and the Manc (Colin) from England are watching all episodes of Battlestar Galactica (original series) and, for you the wonderful listener, we hope there's some humor and fun comments. You can also listen and watch at the same time, or just enjoy the banter. Warning - there's a few rude words! After the barn storming pilot/movie/film/whatever of Saga of a Star World we are straight into the monster two-parter of Lost Planet of the Gods. This one is brilliant, and because it has everything, Katie kindly gives us a quick primer of Ancient Aliens and the Mormon religion so we are armed and ready to spot all the tropes.
Katie also gives us her reaction to the controversial 'sexy' scene of the female pilots, all the men get COVID, they've sown the head back on Baltar, Adama touches his medallion a bit too often, and there's a rubbish party to send Apollo off to the apparent utter doom of being married.

Colin apologises. He got Battlestar wrong in the first two proper episodes - so there's a grovelling apology. Or we blame the beer, one of the two.
We finally find out what happened to the screamy woman in the lift with feathers in her hair (no spoilers now!). Carrilon blows up because, of course, the Death Star did. Colin finds the Ovion mines kinky, Sire Uri is the comedy light relief, Starbucks tries to start a band and we sign up to Purple and Orange squadrons.

Before we crack on, we pay our respects to Larson-verser Gil Gerard who passed away shortly before recording. We may do Buck on the podcast one day, you never know. God help Colin and all that spandex, lip gloss and penis-headed robots.
Back to Battlestar, the battle is over, the survivours have been rounded up and we're on the way to Earth. Only problem is they are running out of fuel. So after some heroics, they happen to find exactly what they wanted - a planet basically made of the very fuel they need. What could wrong? We have dodgy insect aliens, multi-mouthed disco singers, Muffit the daggit running around, the first of many love triangles for Starbuck and a real cliff hanger. Just what is at the bottom of the elevator?

There are those who believe... Sit down and strap yourselves in for our first proper episode, and we are straight in with the destruction of the Galactian fleet and the end of life as we know it, apart from one remaining Battlestar. As a cheat, we've chunked the mammoth first episode into three parts so you guys don't have to have three hours of Colin swearing and Katie going 'what what what'.

After the glorious success of Space: 1999, we now turn our attentions to the feather hair and tin-can robots of Battlestar Galactica (original series). The premise is simple - Colin is a monster sci-fi geek who knows loads about Battlestar Galactica, Katie also loves her sci-fi but has never seen the show. Katie drinks wine, Colin enjoys a beer, we watch the show together and enjoy what's happening on the screen. We have a lot of fun going through the what-what-whatery of this classic and much loved sci-fi bonanza.
Our short intro should give you all you need to know before we dive straight into the first hour or so of Saga of a Star World in the next episode.
