What can the church do to better accommodate people with gender identity struggles? What should I do about pronouns? Aren't they brainwashing our kids? Wouldn't Jesus have been compassionate no matter what? These questions and many more are burning in the hearts of those who care about both compassion and conviction. This weekend, we'll do our best to explain how to move forward with compassion for people and conviction for people's sake. See you there!
If the reversal of public opinion on homosexuality has happened quickly, then the change regarding transgenderism has happened at the speed of light. When Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn in 2015, it ushered in "The Transgender Moment", and our culture never looked back. But how should followers of Jesus think about this from a Biblical perspective? Join us this weekend as we shift gears to the next chapter in the sexual revolution: transgenderism.
Last week, we explored the Bible's teaching on homosexuality. This week, we'll be breaking down how we can carry that truth compassionately - in other words, we won't be focused on what to say, but how to say it. The world around us is watching to see how we carry this truth: will we do it with grace?
The most important question a follower of Jesus can ask about hard moral questions is What does the Bible say? Today, we'll be walking through the 6 passages that mention homosexuality, and talking about what they mean for us today. But be prepared - no matter who you're attracted to, the Bible has something to say about your sexuality.
There are few things more dominating in the headlines than homosexuality and transgenderism. Yet, the landscape of these issues inside and outside of the church is littered with anger, debate and misunderstanding. In this series, we want to uncover the biblical message about bodies and our sexuality, then find a way forward that prioritizes both grace and truth. This weekend, we will set the stage for why we have such division, and how Jesus' example shows us how we must manage this cultural moment.
It's a new ministry year! This year the Lord has charged us with an intentional focus on one of our values: Better Together. Simply put, to the extent that the gospel reaches us, to that extent Jesus will use us to reach our neighbors and the nations. There is somebody God wants to reach: It’s me. And you can say the same thing. But you will not become all God intends you to be without spiritual friendships. Join us this Sunday as we look at what it means for us to be Better Together as we seek to advance the gospel in you, your neighbors, and the nations.
Sometimes when we ask, "Why?" we really aren't searching for an answer: we're just saying, "I wouldn't done this differently." So what attribute of God do we turn to when our life is so painful that grasping for control of the chaos feels like the only reasonable response? Join us this weekend as we learn about our Sovereign King - the King who has never lost control of our universe, but has also never lost sight of what is best for each of us.
Knowing God requires that you know love. Not "love" in the way that the world defines love. In fact, if you know love, you know God. How do you begin to describe the love of the Father? This Sunday we will scratch the surface of the attribute of the love of God the Father and learn ways to see this love with better clarity.
Have you ever been around someone that made you feel inferior? Maybe their skills, good looks or amazing car made you acutely aware of how lame you are? Often times, people feel that away around those who give off a vibe of superiority, as if they're saying "I'm better than you, and I know it" just by how they live their life. Sadly, that's how a lot of people feel that God is - constantly judging them, and reminding humanity how bad they are. But is that who He should be to us?
