Life is short. The Bible and our own experience say so. “Surely every person at best is like a mere breath” (Psalm 39:5). Yet the good news is that our life can count for all eternity! The Lord wants to use each one of us to help reach the world for Christ in our lifetime. In this message we’ll be challenged to maximize our one and only life to make an eternal difference. God has a specific plan for you. Don’t miss it.
“If the gospel is to be preached to all men it obviously must be done while they are living. The evangelization of the world in this generation, therefore, means the preaching of the gospel to those who are now living. To us who are responsible for preaching the gospel it means in our lifetime; to those who it is to be preached it means in their lifetime. The unevangelized for whom we are responsible live in this generation; and the Christians whose duty it is to present Christ to them live in this generation. If the world is to be reached in this or any generation it will be because a sufficient number of individual Christians recognize and assume their personal obligation to the undertaking.” - John Mott
Join us as we hear the incredible account of an ordinary man who has dedicated the past 60 years of his life to evangelizing the world for Jesus. Jim Hiskey's story is an inspirational example of what Jesus can do with a life made available to Him.
We’ve heard the invitation to follow Jesus, discussed how to walk with Him, and explored why being His disciple leads to the best kind of life. In our final week of The Discipleship Pathway, we look at another reason why we should re-prioritize our lives around Jesus – on the basis of who Jesus really is. Join us this weekend as we explore Luke 9:28-36.
Wow – if Jesus was trying to gain disciples you would think He would have offered something more appealing than “deny yourself” and “take up your cross daily.” Didn’t He realize that probably won’t sell among the masses? Couldn’t Jesus have been a little more reasonable – like deny yourself on Sunday mornings, and take up your cross once in a while? Why would we want to follow Jesus if these are His conditions? In this message we’ll explore these questions as we dive into Luke 9:23-24 and continue along the pathway to discipleship.
Last week Greg challenged us to respond to Jesus‘s invitation to follow him and become a growing disciple. We hope you accepted Jesus‘s invitation. For many of us, the path of discipleship has not always been clear. At times it has felt confusing, overwhelming and even mysterious. This has led to some uncertainty about how Jesus wants you and me to grow. Join Pastor Brian Hopper as he explores this topic.
We all want a full and purposeful life. So here is a statement to ponder: “The more I grow spiritually, the better my life becomes.” Do you agree? This is true because the more we grow spiritually, the more we become like Jesus. And the more we become like Jesus, the better our lives become. That’s what this series about: How we can grow spiritually as a disciple of Christ. For the last nine months we’ve been working on a Discipleship Pathway. Regardless of where you are on the path, join us this weekend to be encouraged to take the next step toward being a disciple of Jesus.
Three hours and 15 minutes. That was how long it took before my patience began to fade and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding started to peace out after learning how to get my peace on last weekend. Ever wonder why the peace of God is at risk in the life of the believer? In “Keeping the Peace,” we explore the tools we have to fight against the very real threat to our peace.
Uptight, anxious, nervous, impatient, angry, tense, worried, uneasy, fearful… Any of those words describe you? In contrast, how does a continual heart of peace sound in 2019? It is possible! But it is only found one way: through a relationship with Jesus. This is a great series to invite your friends, especially those whom you reached out to during Christmas. But the need for peace is not only for them. It’s for all of us who know Jesus yet continue to struggle with a lack of peace.
In the fullness of time God hurled the greatest gift toward humanity in the birth of Jesus Christ. His birth assures us of God’s presence with us and His care for us. There is no greater power than in Jesus, no greater potential than with Jesus, and no greater comfort than to know Jesus.
