  • How do you write a new James Bond theme? | BBC News
The composer behind many James Bond films, David Arnold, has written a new 007 theme. But this time, it’s for the game.
Speaking to BBC's Marc Cieslak, Arnold talks about composing the theme for 007 First Light, an origin‑story Bond game from IO Interactive, co‑written and sung by Lana Del Rey.
He explains why this version of Bond is different, how the song reflects a younger, unfinished 007, and why writing for games now feels like a natural extension of the Bond world.
Arnold also discusses what makes a great Bond theme, the legacy of the music, and whether he’d return to score another live‑action Bond film in the future.

  • US envoys head for new peace talks with Iran in possible breakthrough | BBC News
The White House says US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner are heading to Pakistan for new peace talks with Iran.
Iran’s foreign minister is already in Islamabad, although Iranian state media have not confirmed that talks area planned.
President Trump has said that Iran is “making an offer and we’ll have to see…”
Meanwhile the relationship between the UK and the United States is under further strain after an internal Pentagon email suggested the US could review its position on Britain's claim to the Falkland Islands.

Israel has launched more attacks on southern Lebanon - accusing Hezbollah militants of firing rockets in order to sabotage a ceasefire, that's been extended for three weeks.

  • How Trump could punish Nato allies | Global News Podcast
The Trump administration has reportedly developed what analysts have described as a "naughty and nice" list of its Nato allies — and discussed punishing those it believes have not sufficiently supported the US-Israel war with Iran.
An internal Pentagon email reported by the Reuters news agency suggests that Washington is considering suspending Spain from Nato, and reviewing its support of the UK's claim to the Falklands islands in the south Atlantic.
BBC News, which has not been able to review the document, has contacted the Pentagon about it. Nato officials have said there is no provision for member states to be suspended or expelled from the alliance.
President Donald Trump has accused Nato members of making a "foolish mistake" by refusing to help the US secure the Strait of Hormuz during the war with Iran.
"We don't need any help," he said. "But they should've been there."
We speak to the BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner.

  • Jeffrey Epstein housed abuse victims in London flats, BBC finds | BBC News
Sex-criminal financier Jeffrey Epstein housed women who say he abused them in several London flats in the years after UK police decided not to investigate him, the BBC has revealed.
Many of them - from Russia, eastern Europe and elsewhere - were brought to the UK after the Metropolitan Police decided not to investigate Virginia Giuffre's 2015 allegation that she had been a victim of international trafficking to London.
The Met said it followed "reasonable lines of inquiry" at the time, interviewing Giuffre on multiple occasions following her complaint and co-operating with US investigators.
