  • Has anyone won the Iran war? | The Global Story
Donald Trump says a deal to end the war with Iran has already been signed and details will be released "pretty soon".
This comes ahead of a formal signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday.
Speaking during a G7 meeting in France, the US President said as part of the US's deal to end the war, Iran will "never have a nuclear weapon".
But the agreement remains shrouded in mystery, and major questions remain about whether both sides can reach a long-term peace deal.
Asma Khalid and Tristan Redman from The Global Story podcast speak to the BBC’s chief international correspondent, Lyse Doucet.
They ask: how has the war affected the global economy, how people in Iran have been affected, what Iran's nuclear capabilities are and what has happened to the Iranian regime.

  • Swipe right for sperm | BBC News
With fertility prices soaring and treatment difficult to access for some, same-sex female couples say they have little choice but to turn to social media to make a baby.
Social media groups and apps are fuelling a cheap, easy and totally unregulated donor market. But it’s risky: outside of a sperm clinic, there’s no guarantee of health screening, and you’re not legally protected.
And it’s not just a gamble for those wanting to get pregnant. According to the UK’s fertility regulator, men who donate sperm outside of clinics may also be breaking the law if they’re storing, processing or sending sperm.
But what do they think of this? Meet the men travelling the world to donate sperm, and find out what happens when BBC reporter Gemma Dunstan tries to order a sample online.

  • She started swinging for her husband. It left her traumatised | BBC News
Ruth says she reluctantly joined a swinging website after she was persuaded by her husband.
It escalated, and she says she had sex with strangers more than 100 times through the website.
For eight months, the BBC has been investigating swinging in the UK, including the role of the FabSwingers website, which Ruth says “facilitated the abuse”.
FabSwingers told the BBC it ran its website in adherence with the regulator Ofcom’s requirements.
Details of organisations offering information about or support after sexual abuse or with feelings of despair are available at bbc.co.uk/actionline

  • Oil price tumbles as Trump says Iran deal already signed | BBC News
President Trump says the deal to end the war with Iran has been signed and details will be released soon. The US president said the straight of Hormuz will be “completely open” by the end of this week.
Oil prices have fallen sharply on the hope that the key shipping lane through which around a fifth of the world’s oil and gas is carried will be open again. Stock markets also rose on the news, with hopes that the impact of the conflict on global prices of goods from food to fertiliser would prove to be temporary.
The deal also includes an end to Israel”s military operations" in Lebanon, according to Pakistan, the key mediator between the US and Iran. However Israel has made clear that it reserves the right to carry out military operations in Lebanon.
Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu said the "fight is not over" and Israel had to "remain vigilant" - and would remain in a "buffer zone" created in southern Lebanon.

  • Trump says deal to end war with Iran already signed and details released 'pretty soon' | BBC News
The deal to end the war has already been signed electronically by the US and Iran, and details of the Memorandum of Understanding will be released publicly in "24 to 48 hours", a US official said.
US President Donald Trump said a formal signing ceremony, attended by Vice-President JD Vance, will happen in Switzerland on Friday.
Trump said the deal includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports.
A senior US official said that Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon is not part of the deal. A spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said ending the conflict in Lebanon is a pivotal part of the framework agreement Iran and the US reached.
Oil prices have fallen and shares risen after the US and Iran said they had agreed a framework deal to end the war.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, dropped more than 5% to $82.84 (£61.70) a barrel, while global stock markets rose.

  • Does the UK social media ban affect you? | BBC News
Millions of children in the UK will be forced off social media after the government announced it would ban under-16s from accessing a range of platforms.
Apps including TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram will become inaccessible for children, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said.
"We hope to pass regulation before Christmas," he said, with the ban coming into force in spring 2027.
Tech companies including Meta, Snapchat and YouTube warned a blanket ban would move children into more unsafe online environments.
The government is yet to release the full list of platforms affected, but said YouTube, Facebook and X would also be included.
