BCHL Podcast

The BCHL is back! We cover the league's return to play with BCHL Commissioner Chris Hebb (2:13) and we also get the player perspective from Prince George Spruce Kings forward and three-year BCHL veteran Christian Buono (14:50). Finally, we catch up with Long Island University freshman and former Spruce Kings captain Nolan Welsh (27:38), who lead his team in scoring in their first year of Division I play.

We have a jam-packed show this week with three interviews on tap. This weekend is the start of college hockey's conference tournaments, so we decided to catch up with a few alumni who have big games coming up in the next few days.

First up, we chat with Trevin Kozlowski (1:58), senior goalie at Army and former Salmon Arm Silverback, who lets us know what it's like to go to school at a military academy and how he feels about his senior season. Next up, we catch up with former Trail Smoke Eater and Penticton Vee Andre Ghantous (19:16) who was just named to the WCHA Third-Team All-Stars and is prepping for a tournament matchup against Bowling Green. Last, but not least, Bemidji State goalie Zach Driscoll (30:59) joins the show to talk about his success since joining that program, the 2015-16 season he spent in Penticton and much more.

We continue with our college hockey theme with another pair of interviews with BCHL alumni playing in the NCAA. This week, we speak with West Kelowna Warriors grad and Boston College forward Mike Hardman (1:09), as well as Minnesota State freshman defenceman and former Langley Rivermen standout Jake Livingstone (17:54).

On this week's episode, we talk to University of North Dakota forward and Wenatchee Wild alum Jasper Weatherby (1:14) about his involvement in the College Hockey for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee as well as his strong play on the ice, including his recent NCHC Forward of the Week award. After that, we catch up with former Penticton Vee and current Bemidji State University junior forward Owen Sillinger (14:05) to talk about his college career, his BCHL days and getting to play alongside his brother Lukas.

On this week's episode, we speak with University of New Hampshire forward and Langley Rivermen alum Angus Crookshank (1:07) who is coming off a four-goal game last weekend and a Hockey East Player of the Week award. We also catch up with former Penticton Vee and current University of North Dakota goalie Adam Scheel (15:22) who has been one of college hockey's best netminders since his freshman year and was recently named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List.

This week, we catch up with another pair of BCHL alums who are making news in the NCAA. First up, we chat with University of Connecticut forward and former Powell River King Jonny Evans (1:16) who is coming off a four-goal game and a Hockey East Player of the Week award. After that, we're joined by University of Minnesota-Duluth freshman and Salmon Arm Silverbacks alum Luke Mylymok (16:30) who was recently added to NHL Central Scouting's Players to Watch list.

This week's episode has a Victoria Grizzlies theme as we catch up with former Grizzly Alex Newhook (1:35)who is fresh off his experience with Team Canada at the World Juniors and has since returned to Boston College for his sophomore season. We also chat with current-day Victoria defenceman Isack Bandu (17:39) who recently announced his commitment to Northern Michigan University.

This week we catch up with another pair of BCHL alumni making noise in college hockey. Our guests are University of North Dakota senior and Chilliwack Chiefs alum Jordan Kawaguchi (1:09) as well as Arizona State University freshman and former Merritt Centennial Matthew Kopperud (17:59).

It's an all Big Ten conference edition of the BCHL Podcast as we catch up with two of the top players in college hockey today.

First up, we chat with Kent Johnson (1:24) about his freshman season at Michigan, going viral with a goal that made the SportsCenter Top 10 in the U.S. last week and his two years in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters.

After that, we are joined by Jack Lafontaine (19:06) who tells us what he attributes to his incredible start to his senior year at the University of Minnesota, his relationship with Penticton Vees head coach Fred Harbinson and his experience being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2016.
