To be loved by God is to be held by a love that existed before you were born and remains unchanging no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done. Scripture says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3). God’s love is not earned—it is a gift of grace, shown most clearly in Jesus Christ: “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). This love claims you as God’s own child, for “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1). To be loved by God is to be fully known, fully forgiven, and never abandoned: “Nothing… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39).
