Be Happy

Idols aren’t just gold statues of other ‘gods’. An idol is anything we put in the central place in our lives - the place God should be. In this series we look at some of the many of us struggle with … and today we explore the idol of happiness. Why do we ‘worship’ happiness and what can we do to put God back where he belongs at the centre of our lives.

Questions to reflect on and discuss from this message:

1. What are your first thoughts when you hear that happiness can be an idol that we worship instead of worshipping God?

2. Matt talked about overcoming the idol of happiness by “being clear on how important Jesus is to us” and “practicing daily gratitude”. How would these ideas change the way you chase happiness in life?

3. What is one thing you can do in your life this week to ‘chase’ Jesus more and happiness less? Be specific and practical.
