  • Episode 9 – The Case Files Closed - Rewrite Reveal

Episode 9 – The Case Files Closed ☕📂✒️

The Department of Corrections has reached its finale. Training File #9 just dropped — and this time, you don’t get a new wreck. Instead, you get the Department’s official rewrites for every case in the cycle.

Eight wrecks. Eight rewrites. Eight lessons in clarity, professionalism, and survival.

Your mission? Compare your rewrites against the Department Standard. Did you nail it? Did you miss the point? Or did you manage to outdo Agent Fixer himself?

    ✅ Department Suggested Rewrites

    Case 1 – The Awful Accountant 📊
“In the second quarter, spending on copy paper increased. The rise was mainly due to higher supplier costs, with a small uptick in departmental usage also contributing.”

Case 2 – The Cringy Cover Letter ✉️
    “Dear Hiring Team,
I’m excited to apply for the [position] at [company]. My background combines [X years] of experience in [field] with strong skills in [key areas], which make me confident I can contribute immediately. Please see my attached CV for details on my education and professional achievements. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can add value to your team.”

    Case 3 – The Passive-Aggressive Project Manager 😒
“The report was expected last week but is still incomplete. Several tasks were delayed due to competing priorities. The client has been waiting for updates since Monday, which makes reassurance difficult. By the next meeting, I expect the work to be finished.”

Case 4 – The Terrible Team Update 🗂️
“The team completed the report yesterday and will finish the remaining sections next week. Several tasks were delayed last month, but they are now complete. The client has been waiting since Tuesday and will continue to wait for updates until tomorrow. By the next meeting, the project will be finished.”

Case 5 – The Broken Business Bio 🧑‍💼
“I’m a business leader with extensive experience managing cross-functional projects that deliver measurable results. I’ve worked across industries to lead teams, improve operations, and drive growth. Colleagues know me for building trust and delivering on commitments. I’m now focused on applying my expertise to help organizations achieve their goals.”

    Case 6 – The Legalese-Loving Lawyer ⚖️
“I will review the document. Some points may be unclear and need clarification. We plan to move forward with the agreement. If everyone agrees, we’ll sign at the earliest opportunity.”

    Case 7 – The Slack Saboteur 💬⚡
“Let’s plan a team check-in tomorrow once the boss confirms availability. Please finish the document by Friday before the client review. Marketing will update the slides. We’ll meet again Monday at 10 a.m. to finalize.”

    Case 8 – The Disengaged Director 😴📊
“Yesterday’s leadership meeting was intended to clarify next steps but turned into a recap of unresolved issues. When I shared my priorities, the group wasn’t engaged. The meeting ended without clear decisions or responsibilities. As a result, I’m uncertain about my role going forward.”

Think you’ve survived the Department’s training? Eugene isn’t so sure… but he’ll be watching.

  • Episode 8 – The Case of the Disengaged Director

Episode 8 – The Case of the Disengaged Director
The Department of Corrections is back in session. Training File #8 has landed — and this time the wreck is a disengaged director’s update: one endless sentence, longer than their meetings, and just as pointless.

    Case File:
“During yesterday’s leadership meeting which was meant to clarify our next steps but instead turned into a long recap of previous issues that still remain unresolved, I attempted to give my thoughts about our priorities however it seemed no one was paying attention and the conversation drifted toward unrelated topics, eventually concluding without clear decisions or responsibilities being assigned which left me feeling uncertain about what exactly my role should be going forward.”

Your mission? Break it into four phrases, listen to Agent Fixer’s clues, and rewrite it into something clear, professional, and human. Post your stitched-together version where the Department can see it — and yes, Agent Fixer will judge your work. Brutally.

Think you can turn director-level droning into clarity strong enough to survive his coffee-fueled contempt? He doubts it… but he’ll be watching.

  • Episode 7 – The Case of the Slack Saboteur

Episode 7 – The Case of the Slack Saboteur
The Department of Corrections is back in session. Training File #7 just dropped — and this time the culprit is Slack. Poor punctuation. No context. Vague at best.

    Case File:
“team check in later maybe or tomorrow depends on when boss free need to finish doc soon but like it’s not urgent urgent just do before client asks someone should update slides idk who maybe marketing maybe ops ok cool let’s circle back sometime later yeah”

Your mission? Break it down into four phrases, listen to Agent Fixer’s clues, and rewrite it into something clear, professional, and human. Post your stitched-together version where the Department can see it — and yes, Agent Fixer will judge your work. Brutally.

  • Episode 6 – The Case of the Legalese-Loving Lawyer

Episode 6 – The Case of the Legalese-Loving Lawyer
The Department of Corrections is back in session. Training File #6 has landed — and this one’s so stuffed with legalese it might actually be illegal.

    Case File:
“Pursuant to the aforementioned matters under consideration, it is herein submitted that the undersigned party shall endeavor to review said documentation. It has come to my attention, in light of the relevant circumstances heretofore disclosed, that ambiguities may potentially arise in interpretation. Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary, it is the present intention of this party to proceed with the execution thereof. Accordingly, subject to mutual consent and without prejudice, the undersigned shall, at the earliest convenience, effectuate said agreement.”

Your mission? Break it down into four phrases, put legalese on trial, and stitch together a rewrite that sounds clear, professional, and human. Post your version where the Department can see it — and Agent Fixer himself will decide whether you’ve earned your place in the cycle.

Think you can brew clarity strong enough to cut through this sludge? He doubts it… but he’ll be watching.

  • Episode 5 – The Case of the Broken Business Bio

Episode 5 – The Case of the Broken Business Bio
The Department of Corrections is back in session. Training File #5 has just landed on Agent Fixer’s desk — and this one’s a LinkedIn bio so bland and bloated it could double as decaf.

    Case File:
“I am a professional person who has many years of good experience in working with different projects that gave me strong skills in communication and management. My background includes doing tasks in many industries and companies where I was responsible for very important responsibilities. People know me for my good work, my positive character, and for being someone who can always be counted upon in different situations. I am ready to use all my good abilities for success in future opportunities.”

Your mission? Break it down into four phrases, roast the filler, and stitch together a rewrite that sounds like a professional — not a motivational fridge magnet. Post your version where the Department can see it, and Agent Fixer himself will decide if you’ve earned more than tourist status.

Think you can brew a bio that hits like strong espresso — not lukewarm instant? He doubts it… but he’ll be watching.

  • Episode 4 – The Case of the Terrible Team Update

Episode 4 – The Case of the Terrible Team Update
The Department of Corrections is back in session. Training File #4 has just hit Agent Fixer’s desk — and this one’s a team update so riddled with tense shifts and timeline chaos it might as well be written in a time machine.

    Case File:
“The team was completing the report yesterday, and they complete it next week as well. Several tasks are delayed last month, but they are already done now. The client has waited since Tuesday and will waiting again tomorrow for updates. By next meeting, the project is finished already, or it will have been finishing soon.”

Your mission? Break it down into four phrases, untangle the verbs, and stitch together a rewrite that doesn’t make the Department look like clowns juggling calendars. Post your version where the Department can see it, and Agent Fixer himself will decide if you’ve earned more than rookie status.

Think you can clean up this grammatical train wreck without embarrassing yourself — or spilling his coffee? He doubts it… but he’ll be watching.
