Many of us are familiar with the five stages of grief outlined by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross- the Swiss psychiatrist and pioneer in near death studies. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. What you might not be familiar with is the 6th stage of grief which is meaning. Grief expert David Kessler who worked with and was mentored by Elisabeth Kubler Ross explains this stage in his book Finding Meaning- The Sixth Stage of Grief. This book has been called
groundbreaking and a road map for people to navigate their way out of suffering and into healing.
Now David has distilled the lessons from Finding Meaning into an experiential workbook that teaches people how to release the hurt and how to grieve with more love than pain. The book is officially released on October 1.

Being podcaster #1 might not be the same as being the number 1 employee at Microsoft but we were very excited when Angel Communicator Rachel Corpus agreed to help launch the MindBodySpirit.fm podcast network. Rachel was the first podcast to join and over the past 4 years there has been a lot of growth. Rachel’s Angel Talk podcast has become one of the most popular shows on the network. I get a chance to catch up with Rachel and share her work with you and we both realized how much can be accomplished when you believe in what you
are doing.

Change and transition are a big part of the human experience. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus is credited with the idea that the only constant in life is change. Only fragments of his writings remain, one in which he says: Everything changes and nothing remains still; and
you cannot step twice into the same stream. Buddhism teaches that change is an inevitable part of life, and that nothing is permanent.
And of course David Bowie said- Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Pretty soon now you're gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time.
Today we are going to talk about change and loss- two topics
that most people I know avoid.
Dr. Katie Eastman is a licensed psychotherapist, life coach,
and organizational change consultant who specializes in the transformation
process of change, loss, grief, and growth. Change and loss are part of the
human experience and Katie has written a beautiful book called Uplifted-Inspiring
Stories of Loss, Change and Growth- that illustrates the principles of
transformational change after loss. Katie's mission is to help others become
stronger and more resilient while dealing with change.

Novelist Anne Lamott is quoted as saying “ my mind is like a bad neighborhood I try not
to go into alone”- most people can relate to being alone with some bad thoughts
and trying to talk yourself out of them. What if you could have an owner’s
manual for your mind and be able to stop self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors
and really supercharge your success potential? That’s what I’ll be exploring on
todays’ show with my guest Ravinder Taylor and her new book Mind Training- The
Science of Self-Empowerment

There is a lot of truth to that old adage- it’s not what you know it’s who you know. You could probably debate me on this, but you can’t deny the importance of making connections in business. One connection I have made that I really value is with Cali Alpert. We have both been working in the media world- me in radio and now podcasting and she has had a great career in TV production. Both of us have spent a lot of time doing interviews with people in the spiritual space. So I thought it would be fun to interview an interviewer. What happens when you turn the tables on someone who is used to asking questions. It’s always fun to get some perspective on what it’s like to be on the other side of the microphone.

Growing up in S. Florida I encountered many people from Cuba. My brother-in-law is Cuban, and I spent a lot of time working in Miami. I love the Cuban people, food, coffee, family values and strength so I really loved reading Maria Quintana’s memoir, Last Flight from Havana. Cuba is a fascinating place that a lot of us don’t really know a lot about.
Marie Quintana is a Fortune 50 corporate leader from humble beginnings. She has held executive positions with companies like PepsiCo, Perot Systems, Tenet Healthcare and IBM. She shares her remarkable life journey in her new memoir. Her story is a celebration of strength, triumph, family, and hope- inspiring us all to never give up in the face of adversity.
